MIX Magazine

V67 midrange repeatedly blew me away with its rendition of the instruments I tried it on. It excelled on guitar amps, over a drum kit, on tenor saxophone and with male vocals. It’s been awhile since I’ve heard a mic that worked so well across a wide range of applications.

Sound on Sound

The Vintage 11 sounds very natural — the highs are all present, but without clawing at your eardrums, as they seem to do with some mics. The output responds well to EQ, which is helped by the very low self‑noise

PRO Audio Review

V67 and V47 do delightful things to voices and acoustic instruments: colorful, artistic things that are best suited for those with big mic closets housing more neutral offerings, when "natural" is what you need.

I found the entire line of JZ microphones to be a substantial step forward into new microphone technology, that not only compares to the "classics" we have all grown to love, but in some cases, almost beats them.

Having worked in so many session over the years I have to say it was really exciting to do some out of the ordinary sessions for Lady Gaga using some of my new toys, the JZ mics V47 and V67 microphones. They excel in so many uses, from acoustic bass, to amplified bass, or vocals, strings, and guitar. I ended up naturally gravitating towards them, even though I had a great vintage microphone selection to my disposal.

I'm impressed with the V67. We are using it for a lot of the lead vocals on Christina Perri's album. We go back and forth between the V67 and a vintage U67 from Sunset Sound. It truly lives in the same family as the original. Certainly a more open , hi-fi modern version of the tube.

An incredible vintage vibe!

"If you're looking for that classic U47 sound, the JZ V47 is an absolute beast! I recently put it head-to-head against my Telefunken U47 (which costs about 10 times as much!), and the JZ V47 completely blew me away. It leans beautifully into that warm, classic vintage character, offering an incredibly detailed and lightning-fast response. It sounded absolutely fantastic on my electric guitar preamp and especially on vocals! While the much pricier Telefunken gives you a tiny bit more of a 3D sound and slightly more highs, a pro musician friend of mine listened to the raw final mix and heard almost no difference between the two. On top of the amazing sound, I am hugely impressed by the build quality—it honestly puts the hardware of some ridiculously expensive high-end mics to shame. A massive thumbs up from me. You get unbelievable value and top-tier sound with this one!"

A jewel in my mic locker!

"I've been looking at this microphone for months and finally decided to buy it during one of the big sales events. Ever since it arrived, I've tested it on different sources, and I can already see myself using it as a default microphone for guitar amps, kick drums (as out mic) and definitely for most male vocals. The microphone has some character and it's as vintage-sounding as it gets, so probably not perfect for any situation. The build is absolutely solid! I wasn't too impressed with the shockmount and with the package itself (very minimal), but I guess that's why they decided to sell the fancy wooden box separately."

Incredibly good

"I can't compare to a Neumann, but this mic sounds incredibly good."

A little dull

"I think this mocrophpne is gery good, but i would have expected a cleaner sound, specially on the 4-5 khz area"

Perfection ?

"I'm really happy about my V47 from JZ Microphones. The manufacturing quality is really good, it looks vintage but with modern quality. It perfectly fits with the mounting part. So it gives a professional image of my studio ! In terms of sound : the precision is great, the sound is well balanced (even if a bit darker than some others, it still keeps a nice and sparkling high end. No any harshness (t was my main issue with other mics on my voice). No valve inside but the warmth of a valve mics. What really surprised me is how precise is your description of the range of mics, from dark to light. In fact, I never tested this mic before buying it, but only use your chart to make my decision and watch some videos on YouTube. I was a bit afraid that the result doesn’t fit my goal but it's 100% what I wanted. That's really great to have a description we can trust in. The last point concerns JZ Microphones Team. I exchanged some mails with them, they answer fast and well, which is really great and appreciated, before making a decision. They also now have proposals for B-Stock, which is good when the budget is not infinite ! Long life to JZ Microphones Frederick"

Great

"A great sounding mic for almost every place in the studio. Warm and present sound. Love it."

Anders Å. (5/5)

Excellent quality microphone

"I'm a SM57, U47 person preference wise and the JZ47 slips seamlessly into the locker. Serious value for money and my now, go to vocal mic for my own voice. Looks cool on the stand as well, which is a bonus."

Steven M. (5/5)

Excellent Mic

"Special sounding mic. Darker than others on the series, so when put on the right source, the results are amazing. I'm currently using it for male vocals on a Focusrite Isa preamp. The singer has a low-mid voice, but has very strong S and Z. The result is great, deeper frequencies are highlited and coloured in an amazing and smooth way, while the S and Z on the higher spectrum are in control. Put an 1176 of some kind after it, and it sits in the mix like that, souding huge. P.S. Great for metal vocals also!"
