About Product

VINTAGE 12

AKG's C12 is considered one of the best tube condenser microphones ever made. When it comes to vocals, no other mic can offer that level of silkiness, fullness and clarity.

The legendary mic has been an inspiration for many microphone manufacturers ever since and its CK12 capsule is still one of the best capsules ever built.

JZ Microphones now offers our version of the classic C12!

We have adopted the best sonic qualities of the C12, replaced tubes with more modern and durable transistor technology, and added our innovative Golden Drop Capsule to take the V12 to the next level.

Get the legendary sound of a classic C12 in a stylish new shape, with superior design and quality components that deliver even greater clarity and precision!

SOUND

With a slight scoop in the upper mid- range, a neutral and harmonic rich low-end, and an airy, wide bell lift in the top end, the V12 offers you a luscious and full character without ever becoming too bright or dark.

On all vocals, the new V12 is a must have! On acoustic guitar, electric guitar cabinets, percussion instruments, spoken word and so much more, the V12 is outstanding.

MIX Magazine

V67 midrange repeatedly blew me away with its rendition of the instruments I tried it on. It excelled on guitar amps, over a drum kit, on tenor saxophone and with male vocals. It’s been awhile since I’ve heard a mic that worked so well across a wide range of applications.

The Vintage 11 sounds very natural — the highs are all present, but without clawing at your eardrums, as they seem to do with some mics. The output responds well to EQ, which is helped by the very low self‑noise

PRO Audio Review

V67 and V47 do delightful things to voices and acoustic instruments: colorful, artistic things that are best suited for those with big mic closets housing more neutral offerings, when "natural" is what you need.

I found the entire line of JZ microphones to be a substantial step forward into new microphone technology, that not only compares to the "classics" we have all grown to love, but in some cases, almost beats them.

Having worked in so many session over the years I have to say it was really exciting to do some out of the ordinary sessions for Lady Gaga using some of my new toys, the JZ mics V47 and V67 microphones. They excel in so many uses, from acoustic bass, to amplified bass, or vocals, strings, and guitar. I ended up naturally gravitating towards them, even though I had a great vintage microphone selection to my disposal.

U2, The White Stripes

I'm impressed with the V67. We are using it for a lot of the lead vocals on Christina Perri's album. We go back and forth between the V67 and a vintage U67 from Sunset Sound. It truly lives in the same family as the original. Certainly a more open , hi-fi modern version of the tube.

Very pleasant sound

"You can write books about mics and their differences but for my voice this mic has the most pleasing fit of character. I own the V11, the Blackhole 2, Amethyst and a set of BT202s and for vocals this would be my first choice. It also does really well on guitars, accoustic as well as cabinets, drums or overheads. So a good mic that has an overall use but still a distincive sound. One of my favorites."

inevitable love

"Love this mic. Being a recordist/producer on a budget, could not obviously afford the top league mics everybody would be prising, but now, thanks to JZ, I have a nice arsenal, comprising the V12, along with V11, BH2, V47 and Amethyst, and I can tell you, I feel like belonging to the top league. The V12 is my latest acquisition, and I am fully enjoying my honemoon with it"

A little dull

"The microphone is good but kind of distorted in the 4/5khz area"

Vintage 12

"Hello, I didn't know until now that our neighbors make such high-quality microphones:)(I am from Lithuania) My colleagues advised me to try it. I haven't tried this microphone yet for recording various voices and acoustic instruments, but it works better for my own voice than the microphones I had before. This one really sounds luxurious. I think it's a really great price-quality ratio."

Warm, filling and delicious!

"I finally like how my guitar sounds after recording. I have a Taylor 12-Fret-GCce-FLTD Quiled Sapele Series and neither with the Neumann 87 nor the akg 414 did I get the same sound as with the jz v 12. The body also appeared, the full sound sounds close. No more crappy sound. I used to use ribbon at 4081 to have a softer sound, but I lacked that body, closeness of sound, especially if the guitar dominates and there are not too many instruments. I also tried the male vocal, which has a timbre, but is not full and strong by itself, and I got fullness in my voice. I used an Avalon 737 sp as a preamp. It will be interesting to try for a female voice, drums and with other preamps. Great microphone. It has character and is completely different from the others I have, it will complement my color palette. Thanks brothers! Greetings from Lithuania."

Super clean

"Beautifully transparent, especially on acoustic instruments and able to capture the nuances at different parts of a guitar neck / body without sounding harsh. Sweet spot appears to be just into the proximity effect range for vocals, but requires a skilled and pretty motionless singer to capture this. Better to back off and use a vintage EQ like a Neve to achieive the same whilst allowing movement. Off axis is pretty good, too, and I expect it to function well as a room mic - somewhere between a U67 and U87. Overall, very well executed mic. Could do with updating the Vintage manual soon - there's no reference to it in the current one (I had to check about removing the transport screw elsewhere). And you need to use a boom mic for most use cases - the range of adjustment on the mount is not bad, but limited."

Superb, warm, smooth detail

"World class mics, absolutely."
